I bring gifts! (by gifts i mean taxes, sorry)
Opinions vary but before my post on a living, breathing, dynamic universe was wiped from this site in a freak accident involving a hamster and a not so hot voting system that destroyed it, disengaging players from the npc corps was vital. Whether this will help or not is immaterial. The benefits of the massive ISK sink will settle the market and provide those that are thinking about moving to a player corp a much easier choice.

This blog is the first in a series which will focus on giving you a glimpse into some of the big features of our next expansion, Dominion. In this one, we want to give you a high level overview of how we plan to change the sovereignty mechanic. Subsequent blogs will detail things such as the theories behind some of these new concepts and, eventually, the actual mechanics as well as a few other key bits we feel directly affect the massive sandbox of null-sec game play in EVE. For now though, let's get started. read the rest of this post»
During Fanfest 2008, the Community Team organised two events which were designed to raise funds for Child's Play, a charity of which CCP are proud to be a passionate supporter. With the help of the players, we managed to raise close to 1 million Krona for this very worthy cause. This year we have decided to double the amount of events for Child's Play, which will provide us the opportunity to raise more funds as well as providing some great activities for those attending Fanfest this year. read the rest of this post»

Since the beginning of EVE, one of the more frustrating issues when trying to balance ships has been that there was only one ‘space' available for all of the stuff a player needed to carry along - the ‘Cargo' Bay. Cargo is traditionally defined as: ‘The freight carried by a ship, an aircraft, or another vehicle.' In EVE it has become a catch all for anything and everything that you could stuff into your ship. read the rest of this post»
At CCP we're constantly striving to improve EVE. As the Audio Director my focus is obviously going to be on the sound and music matters within EVE. Given our desire for constant improvement, we felt we needed to completely upgrade the audio engine within EVE because we started to hit the limits of our old engine. We also wanted to have one stable audio engine for all future projects. After some research we chose to go the middleware route and Audiokinetic's Wwise was selected. Implementation of it began late in Q4 of 2008 and finished in the middle of Q1 of 2009. read the rest of this post»
The Quarterly Economic Newsletter for Q2 of 2009 is now ready with some very interesting info on Tech II production and changes in ships flying in space. Of course it has other standard info as well, such as price indices, market snapshots and demographic information and some new info on how ISK is distributed throughout space. read the rest of this post»
For the better part of 2009, we here at CCP have been formulating new strategies to address the issue that all persistent services on the Internet ultimately face, i.e. the data persisted in our systems has meaning to people and everything that has meaning has value. Frankly speaking this has been something that we have been strategizing about since 2004. read the rest of this post»
