site update
Hello all.
Thank you for being a loyal reader of my blog and the other content on this site.
Starfleet Comms has been in existence in many forms over the years, initially supporting Starfleet Command fans but for the last 3 years supporting Eve Online.
You might want to coin the term "agile" as we leap from doing one thing to another.
We still want to support Eve Online but feel you want more than a blog or blog host. You deserve more than a news aggregator and you don't want yet another forum.
So we plan to change. Soon(tm).
Change is coming. Be ready.
Hi all
Please accept our apologies but we are experiencing update issues at www.StarFleetComms.com.
There appears to be issues retrieving posts from the Eve Online forums, our automated service is no longer functioning.
We initially contacted our hosting provider who claim no changes have been made, likewise at CCP.
Meanwhile, alternative methods of providing this service are being sourced. Whether that means an alternative host, a new site build or a fix is undecided and is still in the investigative stages. read more »
Hey there. Max here. Lol, that's rather irritating isn't it? But after reading the forums over at Eve-O pretty much solidly this past week, Cat O'Ninetails' post style tends to imprint on you. Reading from work at break times I hasten to add!
Annoying as it is, alt posting seems to be the norm rather than the exception over at Eve-O. Thread starters seem to always be alts - rarely mains.
As I scrape the OP and the OP's name, this has become more apparent and frankly, a shame. read more »
Greetings,
Well, I never did get around to playing much as I promised myself in my previous blog. I got wrapped up in improving the comms link function here instead. Plus work is a bitch but hey, we all have to suffer that at some point.
The commslinks have now been improved over their previous state. Now the commslink title reflects the title of the thread. Which is a vast improvement over "Bobby Joe Posted 2009.12.01 18:00:01". It definately makes it more readable. read more »
It's been a couple of weeks since I introduced the new facility of grabbing posts from Eve Online forums and making it so you can all rate them and produce a digest.
It's been working really well and despite the odd hiccup it's proven quite a hit! A few requests have been made that I've now implemented. Many of them were sparked by the recent Satellite Watch/keylogger spam hitting Eve-Online forums. read more »
I've recently applied what I consider to be pretty exciting updates to the site. The best of which is the importing and filtering of Eve-O forum posts where you can rate away to your hearts content, even look up best rated topics quickly and easily by a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis.
The import of content is running quite smoothly although those pesky ISK spammers have incurred a bit of a delay so the site is lagging behind by about 16 hours at present, although it will soon catch up. read more »
We don't normally bleat or brag about site stats here at Starfleet Comms. We generally quietly go about our business supplying you with aggregated content from around the Eve Universe that you can rate.
However, I'm not going to turn this into an advert but on this occasion I would simply like to say THANK YOU to each and every visitor for making this work.

As promised, some of the updates promised are now released. There are a couple of minor display issues that I'm working on. Unfortunately I'm by myself here and don't have a huge team or anything so please bear with me. read more »
We've implemented a Site Tour in order to help new users get used to the site.
They are listed here, if you have any suggestions for others, please contact us.
Comprehensive Site Tour showing many features.
Today we have altered the site and decided to refocus the featureset.
We have instead decided to focus on the commslink feature of the site, blogs, guides, feeds and the IRC chat.
The commslink feature will only grow if people start using it and posting their own commslinks... so please help out with that and let's see if we can get this rolling.
Instructions are here: read more »
