About Max Torps - CSM Candidate
This is a page to attempt to summarise some of the main points of my campaign.
My blog that has entries in chronological order, most recent first is here:

EDIT: And the Eve Online CSM Forum Candidate thread for myself is here:

---------------------------------------
Who am I in game?
I've been playing since November 2006. I play and live primarily in 0.0 space.
The corporation I am in is not currently affiliated with the "Great War" and have chosen to go it alone for the time being seeking fun pvp.

Who am I out of game?
I am 42 years old and work in Tech Support for the UK National Health Service. I've ran various guilds and community sites over the last several years.

Why should we vote for you?
Those that know me, know that I am fair and impartial. I don't take crap though and I let the crap giver know that.
As I've consistently stated, the role of the CSM is to bring player issues to discussion via the CSM forum.
Eve Mag and other interviews focus on what issues I believe are important and while that avenue has scope and engenders an almost presidential style election I believe it is inappropriate.
As a CSM I have to separate my views and focus on players and work with your views.
This is something I can and will do for you, if given the opportunity.
Hang on! You have no views? You mustn't know a lot about the game then!
Of course I have views. I do not have an agenda though. I wrote about that back in March on the 23rd.
http://www.starfleetcomms.com/content/csm08_what_do_i_think
So what are some of your views then?
These are views, not an agenda.
Potted version..
1) Low sec needs boosting.
2) Ganging aggro rules need adjusting to be more logical.
3) Bounty hunting needs to be cleaned up and made more fun and rewarding.
4) Missions need much more variety and need to be more meaningful.
5) POS warfare is in dire need of sorting out.
6) Much much more!
Ok. But what about the fixes? How come you aren't posting them?
The process is that player issues are collated and discussed amongst the CSM's. Possible fixes are then analysed and the proposals go to the CCP council as a team effort.
I could say that to fix low sec you just need to increase mission rewards or the value of minerals.
Clearly that will not work, the solution is much more complex than that and involves many different aspects of the game ranging from gang logic to security rating redesign. It would be egotistical to claim that I had the solution for every issue. I don't. It's a team effort to work with existing information available and new information via the CSM forum.
Wait! You're in 0.0 and pvp. I'm in Empire and have issues that need resolving. You won't help me!
Of course I will. I see EvE as a microcosm of the real world where each part is important to the other, whether they realise it or not!
And what's wrong with making the entire game more fun for everyone? Nothing! Each area of the game needs looking at and the CSM is a method of doing that impartially, if you vote in an impartial candidates, like me.
You're a noob, how can you be a CSM?
What would you determine as the minimum playtime required before anyone can be a CSM?
It's April 2008. I think as a November 2006 player I am experienced enough to know what the game offers and what issues there are. I think I am also open minded enough to take on board new ideas and proposals in order to progress discussion.
I'm not a veteran player, no. Nor am I jaded.
I'm not affiliated to major alliances either.
How come you have never really posted on the forums before?
Because the various corps I have been in have either banned public forum posting or discouraged it unless absolutely necessary. After that habit was formed I adopted a "don't speak unless spoken too" approach on the forums. Until now.

As I get asked or think of any more questions I'll add them here.

Submitted by Max Torps on Tue, 06/05/2008 - 18:07.im not a pvp'er but i love this game, i like to mine and build, but what i hate about this game is that any corp can be war decked in high or low sec space.
I myself mine in high sec space but when we get war decked it stops us from mining and enjoying the game, all because another play likes to pvp.
Could there be another server for non pvp'ers

While I share your concerns I am of the personal opinion that a separate server is not the answer here.
For non-pvp'ers there is always the option of hiring mercenaries to defend you, or joining NPC corps. Another option is to recruit pvp'ers uinto your corp to act as your defensive wing.
It may not be the answer you wish to hear, however other options such as non-wardeccable player run corps run against the grain of the Eve Universe as we have seen mentioned by CCP several times.
Perhaps if you can think of another proposal to consider?
