How to create a group
I'm going to take you through some of the steps needed to create a group. Along the way you'll also learn what a group is and what it can do and how useful you might find it.
Firstly, you need an account so get to the account sign up page, pilot!
Once done, you are creating content, so click on Create content and you'll see something like the following image:

Click the Group option. You'll then see a page like this that you can fill out with details:

There are some options that you'd want to fill out too. Maybe you want to publicise your group. Maybe you don't. Maybe you want folk to sign up to your group when they register at this site, maybe you don't. You are the Administrator of your group - not me. All of these options are taken care of here:

So anyway, you've created your group and you get this screen:
What now? Well you have a number of options to play with here. You'll see that your right hand menu headed with your group name has some new bits on to use. And as your group grows, other options will become available.

Let's look at the forums for now:

You can see that you have a "group" that all of your forums are under, you can also add as many forums as you want.
People who are not in your group will not be able to see anything that they're not supposed to!
You can control who can see what by using the following audience options whenever you Create content by posting something on the site. The example below means that my post would only appear to those people in the Pirates of Penzance group:

And that's it. Any questions then head over to the SFC Welcome Group and ask.
