I'm starting to enjoy a lot of fan fiction lately and despite the resounding lack of success of the last competition I am very eager to run this again.

The competition is now CLOSED, no further entries will be accepted. I have to say a massive thank you to all participants so far, there are a lot of great stories to read and you have all put a tremendous amount of work into them.

The results are now in, please scroll to the bottom of this post.

EDIT: Due to the significant and unexpected number of entries I have to postpone the results until 12:00hrs Eve Time 29th August 2010/YC112. I do apologise for this delay but please be assured I am actively reading all entries and am confident the results will be ready by the new time.

Please write a short story of between 400 to 2000 words which include mention of this scene. So think of how you can entwine a Taranis speeding through space into your story. It can be a humorous story, sad, thriller, the horror of the Sansha, whatever you choose.

Requirements

The story must be Eve related, i.e. Eve Online Fan Fiction.

Post this on your blog entry including the embedded link:
This is my entry to the Inspired By Images Of Eve Competition 2. More details and links to all entrants can be found at Starfleet Comms

Please also comment to this blog with a link to your entry otherwise I won't know you've entered. Alternatively, contact me here with a link to your entry. I will list all of them here when I know of them.

One entry per person.

Note: If you do not have a blog, you can sign up for one with these great services:

Email, forum, or commented submissions will not be accepted. This is not me deciding to be restrictive or awkward, the purpose behind this is to increase the size and/or expand awareness of the diversity and key to this, the availability of the Eve Blogosphere. Although the emailed 5Mb scanned document was very funny. Smiling

1st prize: 100 million ISK (plus TWO PLEX donated by CCP)
2nd prize: 75 million ISK (plus ONE PLEX donated by CCP)
3rd prize 50 million ISK (plus ONE PLEX donated by CCP)

In the last few hours since announcing this, the CCP Community Team have donated 4 PLEX to add to the prizes and I've edited the prizes to reflect that, thank you CCP!

All ISK prizes from my own pocket, trust me, they aren't usually that deep!

I will be judging these myself, entry starts now and the closing date for entries is when the Eve Online clock ticks over to 06 August YC112, results by 20 August YC112 so get writing!

I'm really looking forward to seeing some great entries, feel free to retweet this and repost on facebook and forums!

@MaxTorps

p.s. So that I can notify winners, I will need to have an email address or in game eve mail name I can use to contact you (or some way of contacting you) so I can get the name of the character the ISK and the PLEX goes to.

The results are now in. Firstly, I would like to congratulate each and every entrant, whether qualified or not. I have not only read the entrants but also the other potential entrants and have been very impressed by the quality of work many of you have output. None of that has made my job any easier of course and in the last few days I have been struggling to produce three outright winners as you can imagine.

Some of you have queried what method I would use to judge and by what criteria winners would be chosen. I have looked at the technical aspects of the stories, such as the article length and compliance into the competition in the first instance, as well as general readability. I then look at the use of the image given, in this case the Taranis in a solo space scene. Lastly, I use what can only ever be subjective and ask myself, do I personally like this story? Does it grip me? Is it exciting? Does it tell me anything? Does it provoke thought? Does it have a start, middle and end? Does it fit into Eve?

There were many entrants that did this, equally some did not. However the vast majority were great to read and I would like to thank you all again for taking part. I would also dearly love every entrants permission to compile these into a PDF for download and distribution and will set about contacting you shortly.

Here now follows the list of winners. I have also included others for specific mention as I greatly enjoyed their story and they got through to the very final sift, having had eight sifts in total.

1: On Rails of Golden Fire - Ichikhan
2: Freedom and Slavery - Lady Ariona
3: Concientious Objector - Neologia

And in no particular order, some stories that as mentioned, made it to the final sift.

Drive By Heart Courier - Xero Shifter
Awakening - Altair DarkAce
Giving Birth - subtle turtle

Congratulations and thank you everyone!
