Cancelled

The ISK Bucket is an original audio comedy drama series set in the Eve Online universe exclusive to the Starfleet Comms Podcast. As far as we are aware it obeys all canon...except perhaps the bits where it doesn't. It's irreverent in places with some references to existing Eve Online community members and CCP'ers, some subtle and some not so, watch out for those! Eye-wink

Writing started in June 2011 and the first episode made an appearance in the Starfleet Comms Podcast Episode 9 on the 13th June 2010. I've written several episodes but a script is nothing without a cast and I have to say their input has been invaluable. I thank them all so very much.

In addition, I've scoured the community for willing volunteers to take part. There are varied roles that have come up with many more on the boil. Jason Acinom from Not A Lot Of News Newshour is a computer controlling fitting drones. Seismic Stan from the Freebooted Blog is the cocky barman. Kaar Baak is a very aggressive person found in the lower station levels, Aridanyka of Voices From The Void fame plays a social standings terminal and there may be more. Thank you all and if anyone is interested in having a part please send an mp3 of yourself talking, perhaps reading this to iskbucket@starfleetcomms.com!

The show itself is designed to be a cliffhanger at the end of our podcast episodes with a stand alone version of that being released usually a couple of weeks later.

Anyway, it occurred to me that although the show portrays the character very well in the time given (each episode is only a few minutes long with the challenge being to build the character, generate affinity, make a few jibes and also move the plot), you might be interested in the original character synopsis for the main cast:

Commander Deltoid - played by Max Torps
Likes to think of himself as heroic, quite the ladies or mans man, is not quite decided in that regard. Gallentean and just a little bit vain but definitely in charge. Lacks actual bravery but has plenty of bluster and bravado. Intelligent and good hearted but likes to also skirt the law or at least think he does. Tends to lead by committee and roster. Incredibly clean and has a compulsive disorder that requires him to make surfaces shiny.
History: Amaglid Deltoid; University of Caille Gallente Gallente Activists

First Officer MacClane - played by Noise
The true hero. Dry sense of humour, exacting and sometimes pedantic however very ambitious. Willing to get his hands dirty to get the job done. Does all the physical work repairing the ship when things go wrong. Gets injured a lot.
History: Gavna MacClane; Pator Tech School Minmatar Sebiestor Tinkerers

Ships Surgeon Dookie - Played by Penelope Star
A bit bored. No real opportunity to shine unless someone needs a plaster or to read out the ships pod status where her demeanour brightens up considerably. As an Amarrian, she doesn’t really believe the other two count as they are non-believers but is guardedly curious about their interests. Has a very dry, caustic streak. Quite refined.
History: Cherynne Dookie; Amarr - Amarr - Liberal Holders

The story arc itself is about the dreams a pod pilots crew have for their own future. This leads to nefarious double dealings, danger and some shady characters along the way.

Episode 1.
We get introduced to the characters, their ambitions and the setting. We end with a cliffhanger while in space combat.

Episode 2.
We learn more about their universe and also gain a new contact in the bar where an idea is planted into Deltoid's head.

Episode 3.
We return to the bar and learn more about how the crew can realise their dreams and end with a cliffhanger when the crew meet an aggressive contact in the lower levels of the station.

That's the story so far, we hope you enjoy The ISK Bucket as much as we enjoy making it. If you follow it, you'll find the crew getting in to more trouble that you'd ever think possible!

And... it was the @StarfleetComms Podcast First Birthday on the 23rd of October. Please tweet us, it's lonely in space. Right on!
