Life goes on
I started playing Eve Online in 2006. After roughly a month of playing it got a bit boring not being in a player run corp so I started to look around for a likely corporation to join.
There was a Great War on at the time and the Eve forums were awash with stories about it. It looked exciting but as a new player I realised I couldn't join one of the elite corporations just yet.
Some time later, I saw many adverts posted for Research Associates (RESA) which was a feeder corporation for AWECO, part of Ascendant Frontier.
I applied and joined.
After various wars being declared on Research Associates and various periods sitting in stations with a smattering of pretty good tech 1 fights, Blue Max the CEO of RESA asked me to create a new Corporation called Progenitor Corporation. This was to be the new feeder corp for AWECO and RESA was to be used primarily as a POS maintenance/industrial alt arm.
I then became the Lead Recruitment Officer for Progenitor Corporation and was also asked to be Joint Chief, which I declined. It was around this time that I also started broadcasting a weekly show with POD Radio (now closed) as DJ Dax after being cruelly and heartlessly rejected by Eve Radio.
Later, CCP became embroiled in a controversy relating to the Band of Brothers alliance which was pretty negative so I subsequently took leave of Eve Online and started a radio station called CyberSpace UK Radio aimed at Lord of the Rings Online players which I recently started playing with a bunch of friends who steadfastly refuse to join Eve Online.
A few months later I returned and started to re-familiarise myself with the game. Scimitarr, a friend of mine made in RESA who had graduated to 0.0 with AWECO contacted me and told me about eXceed Inc.
Everything he said sounded good, so I applied and soon joined eXceed Inc as a standard member. At that time, eXceed was in the Invictus Alliance which was resident in the Drone regions. eXceed had previously been a member of ASCN (Ascendant Frontier) so this settled well with me as I wanted to remain on the coalition side of the fence.
At this point, I redirected CyberSpace UK Radio content generally towards MMO gamers and in particular, Eve Online.
Paraphrasing a little from here, battles were sporadic but soon an opportunity to help KOS fight attacks from RISE occured and we also flew with the Goons from 77S.
Unfortunately, while we enjoyed the fights, any accomplishment was not recognised by allies so eXceed left the Invictus Alliance and moved to the Stain region, bringing us all a little closer to the Great War.
It was around this time that I went to the Eve Online Fanfest in Nov 2007 as Cyberspace UK Radio and broadcast fanfest presentations and interviews with developers, much to the chagrin of Eve Radio who made a later showing during that fanfest.
Back in New Eden, in Stain IXC (eXceed) flew many missions against BoB and its renters, in particular FIX. With the fall of the renters and the concentration of BoB into such a small area IXC again found itself with few targets in the area as the main Coalition forces moved into the Delve region. A decision was therefore made to reset almost everyone to neutral and IXC entered a new period of pvp.
Around the same time, CyberSpace UK Radio closes down due to lack of interest which is fair enough. Starfleet Comms, a site which I operated in 2003, re-opens and is aimed toward Eve Online users.
Even though IXC are now in a target rich environment I now face a choice. I have had no particular wish to kill just anyone and have always enjoyed being part of a larger war. I'd also wished to grow and develop into new roles within a corp at some point but that looks to be far in the future now with leaving an established corporation.
Regardless though I was very happy in eXceed for a time and wish them the very best, they are a great bunch of people.
After a recent disagreement over an innocent posting on the forums with a rule only affecting myself it seems, my character Max Torps is now embarking on a new journey and has no idea where that will take him. Maybe it's just what I need.
