Update problems

Submitted by SFC Admin on Sat, 12/09/2009 - 00:12.

Hi all

Please accept our apologies but we are experiencing update issues at www.StarFleetComms.com.

There appears to be issues retrieving posts from the Eve Online forums, our automated service is no longer functioning.

We initially contacted our hosting provider who claim no changes have been made, likewise at CCP.

Meanwhile, alternative methods of providing this service are being sourced. Whether that means an alternative host, a new site build or a fix is undecided and is still in the investigative stages.

As soon as I have more information I will post. Thank you for bearing with us during this time.

No further movement on this

No further movement on this I'm afraid. We are being firewalled but a petition is lodged.

Despite escalation between

Despite escalation between CCP and my webhost, there is still no resolution on this months later.

I will point out that I am extremely unhappy at this and remain unconvinced that either party are blameless.

To this end, rather than beat a dead horse I am taking a different direction with the website that does not require scraping of the Eve Online forums or manipulation of data you can find on any other Eve website.

It's a cooler idea anyway.
