Voting & Commslinks

For the last couple of weeks the voting widget that was attached to pretty much all content seems to have been successful and actually worked. Which is always a bonus.

However, it was all a little pointless. Why would you vote on something that only I posted up? And what would happen to the voted articles anyway?

So last weekend while the Eve PVP tourney was being streamed and my corp and alliance mates were screaming at their monitors I introduced commslinks to the site.

Ok.

So what are these then? Well, it's basically turning this site into a bit of an Eve-centric Digg type clone.

It's about the only niche that hasn't been filled and I think it can prove to be quite popular, I just need people to start using it, lol!

Anyway, the premise is this.

You spot a forum post or blog somewhere that is worthy of note. It can be very crap or very good, or something you think others might just find interesting.

You can post it here using the instructions here.

Other people see it listed in the "+ commslink" or "-commslink" or even on the front page of the site and vote on it after visiting.

The + and - commslink bits are to show commslinks that are either very popular or getting buried but good commslinks and newly posted ones will initially be on the front page.

Anyway, it's an idea and we'll see how it goes. I had to reset the voting on the site recently as it all went a bit Pete Tong and take it off some content but things should be okay now.

Comments, as always, are welcome. Even unwelcome ones.
