Eve IM = Dust

It is with regret that I am announcing the withdrawal of Eve Instant Messenger.

As a fun project it was great for me to learn from and I had actually created an application that used API authentication, created unique, hidden chat rooms on a Jabber server and performed basic chat and alert functions. All without any server configuration required, making it an out of the box "instant" solution. However it had a flaw that lent itself to abuse.

I also underestimated the lengths that people could go to to bypass API authentication and in my naivety was shocked at how easy it seemed to be. To prevent that actually happening is something I'm having difficulty in resolving, at least in the codes current form of being client only, which in retrospect is silly and obvious.

So I will now work on this as I was previously as a hobby and hopefully one day the source code and application will be available for use by the Eve Community. Until then however, the Eve IM is no longer available.

Thank you to everyone who gave it a shot and provided feedback.
