CSM08 - Thought processes

Several threads have popped up over the last few days regarding the Council of Stellar Management.

Reaction has been vocal with a lot of folks claiming it won't work as it was tried before and failed.

Others question the integrity of the candidates and believe that current celebrities will win so why bother.

Some candidates criticise the entire process. They even criticise the form the process can take i.e. stand as and join a political party or stand as individuals.

All of the above is extremely valid.

What CCP have done is a marvellous example of sandbox psychiatry (tm!) and given the Eve community an opportunity to add a layer that can work as lobbyists do in the US. Or at least that's how it looks.

They've made no pretense about the CSM being essentially toothless. However just because it's toothless doesn't mean to say it can't make a loud enough roar.

The initial and what we should call the FIRST CSM in this incarnation will lay the groundwork and framework for how the others will operate.

It's got to as it needs to be able to pass on operations to the next batch of CSM members.

There are thousands of issues surrounding the game at the moment, all affecting members of the Eve community in different ways and the expectation to resolve all of them in the first term is unrealistic.

If successful, my aim will be to prioritise and work with the other CSM delegates the main areas that are issues affecting the majority of players.

And this is where the players come in. If you want CSM delegates to bang their own drum, then say or do nothing.

I'll look after my own back and so will the others. It's human nature.

If you want issues YOU care about resolving, then vote for the candidates who either have parallel sensibilities to yourself, or have an open enough mind to grasp the bigger picture and be flexible enough to act on your behalf. That's me by the way.

It's your choice.
