We see what NASA sees… sort of.

January 16, 2017

Previously, I spoke about heading toward Michel’s Legacy and the Dragonhead Nebula after I’d made my way to the Cat’s Paw Nebula. Well, you see this is the thing. In Elite Dangerous you get to make your own choices and because of that I’ve now decided to head toward either NGC6357, recently featured by NASA, or V1033 Scorpi and I’m kind of veering toward the former. NGC6357 is “on the way” to Sagittarius A*, so it has convenience going for it and it seems to be a common navigational point.

Cat's Paw Nebula

Cat’s Paw Nebula – said to look like one from certain angles.

The write up in EDDiscovery states:

NGC 6357 (inc. The Pismis Open Star Cluster embedded within) A highly distinctive nebula situated on the near edge of the Norma arm. Due to its prominence, NGC 6357 acts as a navigational marker for explorers heading to the galactic core regions.

It sounds exactly right where I need to be!

Still in my trusty Jan 2015 equipped Cobra MK III I’ve plotted the course using the magnificent EDDiscovery and it’s even spat out a route list for me should I need it. There’s no range limit to the route planning on this either making it invaluable for the longer journeys!
